Grace Baptist Church - Eldoret was constituted in 2010 but the church plant began in 2006 through one-on-one evangelistic efforts. Initially, the work was concentrated among the Jua Kali artisans and a number of them professed faith. After the 2007/8 post-election violence, many of them left Eldoret and went back to their villages but some of those who remained do not walk with the Lord any more.
At the beginning of 2014, a parcel of land was purchased in Eldoret near the town centre. A permanent structure is being put up. An Auditorium on the ground floor is in use although the building is not yet complete. The top floor will provide different rooms for Sunday school for various age groups.
Our Mission & Vision:
We are a church that believes, preaches and teaches the Bible (the 66 Books) as the whole counsel of God. We adhere to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. We teach and uphold the Reformed Faith or as commonly called 'The Doctrines of Grace.' We pray and labour towards seeing the Reformed Faith spread in our cities and towns and this in turn will have its influence in our villages. Please read our Statement of Faith.
The church has two pastors. Please read about Pastor Naphtally Ogallo and Pastor Paul Keno
Where to Find Us:
Grace Baptist Church - Eldoret is located in West Indies Estate, Block 6/505 in Eldoret town. We are less than 1Km away from the town centre. From the town centre towards Kitale, turn left at Uhuru Street. Go straight past Gulab Leisure Centre (Gulab Lochab Academy) gate. Come through to Kokwas Estate keeping left. Just before the Asian Cemetery stone wall, turn left on the murram/unpaved (dust) road. About two hundred meters ahead is Grace Baptist Church on your left. It is opposite Silver Spring Estate.
The church has and continues to put a lot of effort in outreach among the universities and colleges around Eldoret. University of Eldoret (UoE) has received the church’s prayer, attention and efforts. Bible discussions are held with students in the Halls of Residence. Several students come to church on Sundays, Bible study on Thursdays and to young people’s meetings dubbed ‘Table Talks’ every other month. Early 2019, the church admitted into membership six from UoE and one from Moi University main campus among others. Other institutions of higher learning where the church has often had opportunities of ministry include College of Health Sciences, School of Law, and Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
Other Churches in Fellowship:
We believe in forging and maintaining close fellowship with like-minded churches both locally and internationally. The Lord has blessed us with many but to mention only a few local ones:
Grace Baptist Church – Kisumu with Pastor Tonny Karwa
Bethesda Baptist Church – Tassia, Nairobi with Pastor Michael Otieno Maura
We have partnered with these two churches and formed Reformation Carried Forward by Kenyans (ReCFoK). We seek to encourage each other by leaders frequently meeting for reading the Scripture, prayer, and discussing ways of furthering the Reformed faith in Kenya and beyond. We hold Reformed Family Conferences annually on second week of December at Grace Baptist Church - Kisumu. In 2012 we began a training institute called Kisumu Reformed School of Theology (KReST) with about 25 students.
