So, why the name grace?

​Paul in his second Epistle to the Corinthians chapter six verse one pleads with them to “not receive the grace of God in vain.” What God has done at Grace Baptist Church - Eldoret (GBC-Eldoret) from its inception when the one-on-one evangelism began in late 2006 to date would never be accurately relayed if devoid of the word ‘Grace’, which is the undeserved favor of God or as our children’s catechism song says ‘Grace is that gift of God which we don’t deserve.’

We can only sample a few of these: 
The whole move to Eldoret in 2006, followed by the Post Election Violence of 2007/2008 and how it turned Pastor Ogallo’s rented premises to a ‘refugee centre’ for over twenty children and their parents with minimal food. That period turned to be the gracious awakening of some to the reality of their sins and need for Christ. For some like Pastor Paul Keno, it was his turning point to the ‘Doctrines of Grace!’ In those early years of its life, the church tasted a bitter pill as a sizable number of members left leaving it bruised but the grace of God proved sufficient. She was healed and continued the race. The church graciously acquired a parcel of land and there was great rejoicing. But this was soon followed by the ‘great demolition’ of its temporary structures by the Council authorities in 2014, and as though that was not enough, the Contractor later disappeared with the church building fund. It was the God of grace that sustained this little church through it all. 

​Finally, there is an important angle in all that has happened and continues to happen in the life of GBC - Eldoret. If one would ask, ‘How has this young struggling church come this far, from a house meeting, to a provision of a Tent (Macqee), acquiring of land and now a structure, albeit unfinished? The honest answer is God’s grace in the hearts of His kind people around the world (churches and individuals) partnering with us! That is it. 
This is why just like the Apostle Paul pleaded with the Corinthian believers, it is our sincere prayer that we the members of GBC - Eldoret would ‘not receive this grace of God in vain.’ This is both in terms of the gospel we preach and any gifts we receive towards the furtherance of this gospel of grace. Therefore we are bound to give thanks to God always for you brethren. AMEN!
